Ireland's Circle Oil reports that a sidetrack to its appraisal well on the Al Amir SE field in Egypt has struck "good oil-bearing reservoir sands". The AASE-11X appraisal well was drilled in the northwest of the field and was evaluating the Shagar and Rahmi sands. After reaching 9,600ft (2,926m) the well was sidetracked south to a total depth of 11,160ft (3,401m) into the base Kareem.
