London-listed Max Petroleum has started drilling an exploration well on the Besbolek North-East prospect on Block E in the pre-Caspian Basin, western Kazakhstan. The BSBNE-1 exploration well is being drilled using the Zhanros Drilling-owned rig ZJ-20 to a total depth of around 5,183ft (1,580m).
