Statoil mulls Luva spar

Statoil is mulling tapping its Norwegian Sea Luvafield with a spar platform with steel catenary risers.The solution could be chosen because of theunique challenges that development of the fieldpresents. The water depth in the area is around4,265ft (1,300m), deeper even than Ormen Lange,and the reservoir is 9,187ft (2,800m) beneath theseabed. Recoverable reserves in the field are esti-mated at some 1.342 Tcf (38 Bcm) of gas.Luva lies 140km from Norne, the nearest instal-lation, and 500km from the Nyhamna pipeline ter-minal.
