The 2011 Atlantic Margin Licensing Round off-shore Ireland attracted 15 applications, the largestnumber ever received in a single licensing roundin Ireland.The round is Ireland’s largest to date, compris-ing 996 full blocks and 58 part blocks – all ofIreland’s Atlantic sedimentary basins.The area on offer extends from about 30-380kmfrom shore with water depths typically rangingfrom 200m (656ft) to more than 3,000m (9,843ft).The round opens up Ireland’s entire Atlantic –the Atlantic Margin – seabed for exploration (apartfrom existing licensed areas) rather than specificbasins (or blocks).
