Australia’s Entek Energy has discovered oil withits first well on Vermilion Block 342 in the US Gulfof Mexico (GoM).Entek said its preliminary analysis indicated thewell had intersected more than 40ft (12m) of netoil pay in the primary L1 sand target with an APIgravity of 32°.The company said that results were in line withpre-drill predictions and added confidence to anindependent evaluation which estimated grossproven plus probable potential of around 4.8m bblof oil and 6.3 Bcf (178.5 MMcm) of gas.
