AGL sells Aussie pipeline

Australia's AGL has sold its Berwyndale to Wallumbilla pipeline, which taps QGC's coalbed methane (CBM) fields in Queensland's Surat Basin, to APA Group for US $76m. AGL said the deal included a 17-year gas transmission agreement for the pipeline, which supplies AGL's Wallumbilla hub. The pipeline was commissioned by AGL in February 2009 and started operation in April 2009, thus taking Surat Basin gas to market. AGL managing director Michael Fraser said ownership of the pipeline was "no longer core to our integrated strategy".
