Statoil said today that first quarter 2010 net oper- ating income came in at US $6.5 Bn, up 11% on the same period in 2009 and boosted by a 48% increase in oil prices. Net income in the first quarter was $1.8 Bn com- pared to $660m in Q1 2010. Statoil said the 181% increase was mainly due to higher net operating income in international exploration & production, reduced losses on net financial items and a lower tax rate.
