Nexen has confirmed a discovery in its Hobby exploration well in the UK sector of the North Sea. The find was made in the well in Block 20/1N, approximately 1.5k west of the operated Golden Eagle discovery. The Canadian explorer encountered a “significant oil column” which was drill stem tested and flowed at an average restricted rate of 5,500 b/d of oil through a 56/64-inch choke.
