Valiant Petroleum said the sidetrack on the Don Southwest field in the UK North Sea has been successfully completed and is ready to produce. Production from the Don fields is anticipated to restart shortly following commissioning of the permanent pipeline export route via the nearby Thistle platform, which is currently ongoing. The John Shaw semisubmersible drilling rig has now been released, allowing access to the field for the hook-up of water injection on Don Southwest which was also successfully achieved. Meanwhile, Valiant (40%) has commissioned an updated reserve report from its consultants, RPS Energy, for its proved and probable reserves on the Don fields. The reserves associated with West Don have decreased slightly following the assessment of production performance of the first two wells on the field. Valiant's 2010 exploration programme is also anticipated to begin shortly with the Diamond Ocean Nomad semisubmersible drilling rig anticipated to arrive for the Valiant-operated Tybalt prospect (Valiant, 100%) at the beginning of April 2010.
