PetroChina said that in the first half of the year it discovered several gas reserves in the Tarim Basin, in northwest China, and these are expected to boost gas supply to the country's energy-hungry eastern regions.PetroChina, a unit of state-owned China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), drilled several wells in the Kuche, Tazhong and Tabei blocks in the northern and central parts of the Tarim Basin, with the maximum output of one well set at 8.08 MMcf/d (229 Mcm/d), official news agency Xinhua said, citing local government officials. No reserve figure for the blocks was given.
