Ginkgo biloba extract improves visual field damage in some patients affected by normal-tension glaucoma

It was with great interest that we read the article by Guo et al.1in which authors conclude that in newly diagnosed Chinesepatients affected by normal-tension glaucoma (NTG), Ginkgobiloba extract (GBE) has no effect on mean defect and contrastsensitivity. These results are in contrast with our previousresults,2 but we think that differences in patient selection canpartially explain these negative results.
