India on Thursday said it would allow upstream players to charge a premium for natural gas produced from deepwater areas--a step it claimed would help unlock 6.75 trillion cubic feet (191 billion cubic meters) of reserves worth over $28 billion--and approved a new hydrocarbon exploration and licensing policy.
