Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak has suggested that there was no need for natural gas talks with Ukraine and the EU, dispelling what little hope remained for solving outstanding issues involving supply and transit. Novak told Russian media over the weekend that no three-sided talks--the preferred format over the past two troubled years--were planned and Moscow would wait for the next pre-payment from Kiev. "As much as the Ukrainian side will play, that's how much gas will be supplied," said the minister.
