Oversupply concerns look set to prompt state China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) to scrap plans for one or two new LNG import terminals in northern and eastern China. Well - placed industry officials told International Oil Daily that CNOOC, China's largest LNG importer, has decided to row back on a decision to build a new terminal in Yantai, in the country's eastern Shandong province. The company, via its LNG outfit CNOOC Gas and Power, has recalled and dissolved a project team tasked with building the terminal, the sources add.
