Total Expands East African Retail

Private - sector Indian firm Reliance Industries and Fortune Oil Corp. are to sell all of Gulf Africa Petroleum Corp., which has product distribution assets in East Africa, to Total. The French major, which has over 4,000 retail fuel stations in Africa, said the acquisition would strengthen its logistics in the region. Total said it is seeking to expand its market share to 20% from 17% in Africa but provided no time frame for this to be achieved.
