Eni Looks at E&P in Bahrain

Eni said Monday it would evaluate E&P activities onshore and offshore Bahrain, signing four agreements with state Bahrain Petroleum and Tatweer Petroleum. The Italian major said it was invited by the authorities in Bahrain to study data and assess the potential of some onshore and offshore oil and gas fields in the country. Following completion of the studies, Bahrain and Eni will consider future joint projects. Bahrain is a fairly marginal and mature producer, especially by Mideast Gulf standards. Its oil production was around 50,000 b/d in 2015 and looks likely to decline without investment.
