The EU's sources of crude oil imports are shifting alarmingly toward geopolitically unstable regions, thereby increasing the bloc's exposure to security of supply risks, a new study has found. Imports accounted for 88% of the EU's total oil consumption, versus just 76% in 2000, as the bloc moved to fill a gap left by declining domestic output, according to a briefing by UK - based consultancy Cambridge Econometrics.
