US major Chevron will return its East Kalimantan Block to the Indonesian government when its production sharing contract (PSC) expires in 2018, after deciding further development of the area would not be worth its while. Chevron, through local unit Chevron Indonesia Co. (CICO), operates the East Kalimantan PSC with a 92.5% stake, according to information on the company's website, supplying gas to Indonesia's Bontang LNG plant and the Balikpapan refinery.
