Downstream Limits Dip in Mol Earnings

Hungary's Mol on Friday reported a modest slump in second-quarter earnings but could still boast of pulling off a feat that has eluded most of its larger integrated peers -- covering capital spending and dividend commitments from cash flow. The integrated group saw earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) excluding special items slip 7% to 181.5 billion forint ($654 million) in the second quarter from 194.6 billion forint a year earlier, while clean operating profits slumped by 12% year-on-year to 82.4 billion forint.
