UK independent explorer Cairn Energy has submitted a three-year exploration and appraisal program to the Senegalese government which, if approved, will allow it to drill later this year around the potentially transformational SNE-1 discovery. Operator Cairn and joint venture partners ConocoPhillips (35%), Australian independent FAR (15%) and state Petrosen (10%) made two significant oil discoveries off Senegal in 2014 --SNE-1 and FAN-1 --opening a new hydrocarbon basin on the Atlantic Margin (IOD Mar.11'15).
