Locals Bag Angola Onshore Licenses

Angola has awarded eight onshore blocks to local oil companies in a bid round that attracted 85 prequalified oil companies, including major operators such as Italy's Eni and the US' Chevron. Despite the international participation, the offer of 10 onshore blocks in the Congo and Kwanza Basins was always intended to promote indigenous companies, and farmdowns to foreign partners may come at a later stage. The blocks in the Kwanza Basin are believed to have presalt potential (IOD Jul.21'15).
