In a further sign that industry heavyweights remain keenly interested in the Permian Basin despite the slump in oil prices, Exxon Mobil has announced two deals that will expand its position in the prolific US tight oil play. The deals add 48,000 net acres to Exxon's holdings in the heart of the Midland Basin portion of the sprawling Permian region, where the US supermajor has focused its activity to date.
