Chevron Shuts Down Neutral Zone Amid Spat

US major Chevron has begun shutting down production as expected at the onshore Neutral Zone, shared between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, after being caught in the middle of a political spat between the two Gulf allies. Chevron renewed a concession to operate the Saudi side of the Neutral Zone in 2009, giving it the right to 50% of the production from the onshore fields that pumped some 152,000 barrels per day in the first quarter of 2015. Kuwait Gulf Oil Co. operates the other half on behalf of Kuwait.
