Indonesia is set for a hefty hike in government subsidies for biodiesel, which would significantly boost its competitiveness against regular diesel. An influential energy parliamentary committee agreed late on Wednesday to raise Indonesia's biodiesel subsidy to 4,000 rupiah (32¢) per liter, from 1,500 rupiah now, Reuters reported. The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry had earlier proposed raising the subsidy to 5,000 rupiah/liter.
