BP: Gas' Share of Energy Mix to Rise Sharply Over Next Two Decades

For the first time in history, the three major fossil fuels' share of the global energy mix will converge with no one dominant fuel, BP said Wednesday in its annual energy long-term outlook. Speaking at the company's London headquarters, the UK major's chief economist, Christof Ruhl, said oil and coal's share of the energy mix will converge before the decade is out and together decrease as gas, the fastest growing fossil fuel, catches up, with a 27% share each by 2035. Hydro, nuclear and renewables are expected to account for around a fifth of energy production, the company said in its BP Energy Outlook 2035.
