Russian state-controlled Rosneft said on Friday that it closed the deal to acquire assets of the oil-field services provider Weatherford International in Russia and Venezuela. The $500 million deal--agreed by the two companies early in July--includes 61 land drilling crews and 285 workover rigs in Russia, plus six land drilling rigs in Venezuela (IOD Jul.15'14). "The realization of the given agreement will allow Rosneft to strengthen its position on the market of drilling services and capital rehabilitation of wells," the state-controlled major said in a statement.
