Pemex Signs Cooperation Deal With Exxon Mobil

Mexico's state-owned Pemex has signed a memorandum of understanding with US supermajor Exxon Mobil to jointly explore possible areas of collaboration in upstream and downstream projects. The agreement is the latest in a series of such deals that Pemex has signed with international oil companies ahead of Mexico's first bid round following last year's passage of an energy reform ending the company's 76-year monopoly. The first post-reform auction, scheduled to launch in February, will offer up 109 exploration blocks plus 60 producing fields. Pemex has also expressed interest in farming out stakes in another 10 projects that it will continue to operate (IOD Aug.14'14).
