Undeterred by geopolitical fears stemming from Russia's dispute with the West over Ukraine, French major Total is expanding its position in Russia. The French major Total has been awarded licenses to explore three blocks in West Siberia harboring so-called hard-torecover unconventional reserves. The move is part of Total's previously announced plans to participate in the development of Russia's shale and tight oil resources.
