Northeast Asian spot LNG prices have continued to slide in recent days, posting their sharpest weekly decline this year as emerging expectations of end-users taking the unusual step of reducing first-quarter term deliveries weigh on the late-winter trading outlook. Asian end-users normally close discussions of their Annual Delivery Programs (ADP) for term deliveries beginning in January around now, and typically seek more volumes to be delivered in the first quarter due to seasonally stronger power demand for heating. However, end-users now expect this season’s LNG inventory levels to remain high at least until January, if not longer, as winter weather and downstream demand are both projected to be mild.
