Court Case Over Iranian Gas Nears Finale

A major arbitration case surrounding a controversial Mideast Gulf gas contract could get a ruling by the end of next month, potentially hastening a resolution to the decade-long spat between Iran and Crescent Petroleum. Crescent took National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC) to international arbitration in 2009, alleging that the state firm had reneged on its 25-year agreement to supply up to 600 million cubic feet per day of gas to the United Arab Emirates, where Crescent subsidiary Dana Gas would process it in the gas-poor emirate of Sharjah (IOD Aug.10'10).
