Crude oil futures closed lower on Monday, resuming their downward trajectory that was briefly interrupted by back-to-back gains on Thursday and Friday of last week. Some brokers had anticipated the move, saying it fit into a pattern of partial end-ofweek recoveries within the broader decline that has been under way since June. Many believe that weak fundamentals and technicals will continue to weigh on prices, at least in the near term.
