Statoil Finds Yet More Tanzania Gas

Norway's Statoil has made a seventh gas discovery offshore Tanzania, bringing the estimated gas resources spread across three deepwater blocks to nearly 40 trillion cubic feet. The country is in early stage planning for an initial four-train LNG project to export 20 million tons per year but the increasing gas volumes could potentially support a larger LNG venture. Tanzania's neighbor Mozambique is planning a 50 million ton/yr LNG project, based on huge discoveries in the southern section of the Rovuma Basin. First cargoes are targeted for around 2020.
