Flooding Halts Czech Chemical Plant

The Spolana chemical processing plant outside Prague owned by Polish firm PK Orlen has stopped work due to flooding, which has brought much of Central Europe to a standstill in recent days. The plant's management decided to stop production temporarily after floodwater damaged the facility's waste treatment system on Tuesday. All chemical substances have been moved to safety preventing contamination of the local water supply, Spolana said.
