Failures Force Gazprom Neft to Rethink Equatorial Guinea, Cuba Plans

Gazprom Neft is taking stock of its fledgling international E&P portfolio, possibly preparing exits from Equatorial Guinea and Cuba as a result of failed exploration. Russia's fourthlargest oil producer is coming to terms with assets abroad that have not lived up to expectations as it aims to get almost 10% of its oil and gas production from projects outside Russia by 2020 (IOD Oct.30'12). The oil arm of state gas giant Gazprom is confident that other overseas projects, including those in Iraq, Venezuela and the Balkans, will proceed as planned and help it evolve into a truly international oil major over time.
