Rosneft Cleared for Gas Deals

Moving forward with ambitious plans to produce around 100 Bcm/yr of gas as early as 2020, Russia's state-controlled oil giant Rosneft is prepared to buy gas assets from Russia's largest diamond company Alrosa. Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service said this week that it approved an appeal from TNK-BP -- which was purchased by Rosneft in late march -- to buy 100% of Geotransgas and the Urengoyskaya gas company -- the two companies belonging to Alrosa. Rosneft boss Igor Sechin earlier said the company was interested in the assets.
