Efficacy of a tretinoin/hydroquinone-based skin health system in the treatment of facial photodamage

Published studies have confirmed the safety and efficacy of either tretinoin or hydroquinone. This report is the first comparing a tretinoin/hydroquinone-based skin health system (Obagi Nu-Derm System) with a regimen of tretinoin plus over-the-counter (OTC) products, hydroquinone plus OTC products, and OTC products alone in women with photodamaged skin. Each regimen improved appearance and texture, but the tretinoin/hydroquinone-based system produced the greatest improvement in perioral and periocularfine wrinkles, mottled hyperpigmentation, clarity, sallowness, laxity, and tactile roughness.
