Tanker analysts are already calling the next collapse in very large crude carrier (VLCC) rates before the latest market rally has even got underway. Fleet expansion and a tendency to increase tanker speeds at the slightest jump in rates has put what Head of Tanker Research at ICAP Shipping Simon Newman calls a "glass ceiling" on rates.
