CNPC, NIOC Eye Early Production at South Azadegan

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) and partner National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC) have approved the completed front-end engineering and design (Feed) for early crude production of 70,000 barrels per day at Iran’s South Azadegan oil field, sources familiar with the development say. CNPC, the operator, is not on course to meet the firstphase target of producing at a rate of 320,000 b/d from June 2014 at South Azadegan, the sources add. Output was expected to ramp up to 600,000 b/d in 2017 under the second phase.
