Shell Ends Colorado Oil Shale Research Program

Royal Dutch Shell has ended a research program that was focused on making petroleum fuels from kerogen-bearing oil shales in Colorado. Chevron abandoned a similar program in early 2012, so that leaves Exxon Mobil as the only major oil company still pursuing oil shale research in the US.
