Statoil said on Wednesday that there is still "exciting potential" in the Norwegian Sea after discovering up to 19 million bbl of oil in production license PL128, its second discovery in the sea in three weeks. Exploration well 6608/10-15, in the Svale North prospect, encountered two oil columns in its primary and secondary targets with volumes estimated to be in the range of 6 million to 19 million bbl of recoverable oil. Statoil said it would consider tying the discovery back to the Norne field which is located 9 km away.
