Western Argentina Proves Fertile for YPF

YPF, the Argentinean affiliate of Spain’s Repsol YPF, has announced another oil discovery in western Argentina’s Neuquen Basin. In a filing with Argentina’s securities regulator last week, YPF said it has discovered prospective resources of 40 million barrels of oil equivalent in the Chachahuen Block in Mendoza province. The firm said that initial tests of three exploration wells drilled in the block produced between 200-315 barrels per day of conventional oil with an API gravity of 24°.
