Italian oil services firm Saipem, partowned by Eni, has been awarded new contracts worth $1.8 billion that will be carried out by its newly built Castorone pipelay vessel. In Australia, Saipem has signed an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract with Japan’s Inpex for the 889 km, 42-inch-diameter subsea gas export pipeline on the Ichthys LNG project, connecting the offshore process center to the onshore liquefaction plant at Darwin in water depths of up to 275 meters.
