ONGC to Develop Deep-Sea Gas

India’s state Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC) has submitted an updated investment and development plan for the ultradeep- sea UD-1 gas discovery in the Krishna Godavari Basin to the Indian authorities. The UD-1 discovery — which sits adjacent to Reliance’s KG-D6 Block where output slumped 35% to around 39 MMcm/d in 2011 — is the deepest ever gas discovery in India and has been declared commercial by ONGC (IOD Dec.5’11). The new development plan details some $2.9 billion of spending to bring the field on line.
