London-listed EnQuest announced Thursday that it will buy a further 15% stake in the Kraken heavy oil field and surrounding exploration acreage in the UK North Sea from First Oil for between $90 million and $144 million. EnQuest first bought into license areas 9/2b and 9/2c, home to the Kraken field, in January when it purchased two companies from fellow North Sea producer Canamens for $90 million. That deal gained EnQuest a 20% interest in the areas (IOD Jan.10'12).
