Ukraine’s proposed plan to reduce annual imports of Russian gas to 27 Bcm is illegal according to Russian gas giant Gazprom, the latest setback in faltering supply negotiations between the two countries. The two sides are due to resume talks on Jan. 15 over the price that Ukraine pays for Russian gas, although it appears that Russia may be gaining the upper hand (IOD Jan.12’12).
