Royal Dutch Shell has received more government permits necessary for it to become a pioneer driller in Alaska’s northern federal waters, with a first round of exploration wells to be drilled as early as next month. But the UK and Dutch major still is facing controversy from environmentalists -- in the court room and on the open seas.
