Ohio Probes Earthquakes

After a series of earthquakes in northeastern Ohio, including a 4.0 Magnitude tremor on Saturday, a salt water injection well has been shut down near the community of Youngstown while officials investigate whether there is a connection between the disturbances and oil and gas drilling. The owner of the salt water disposal well, Northstar Disposal Services, agreed to stop pumping waste water into the well while state officials conduct their investigation. The salt water waste is a byproduct of development of the Utica Shale formation.
