Gazprom Neft Prepares to Start Drilling in Blocks Offshore Cuba

Russia’s Gazprom Neft is prepared to start drilling in the Cuban part of the Gulf of Mexico, where it recently took a 30% share in four deepwater blocks — N44, N45, N50 and N51. According to the company’s head of projects in Cuba and Equatorial Guinea, Dmitry Borisov, Gazprom Neft and its partner Petronas of Malaysia are eyeing 14 prospective oil and gas structures in the Cuban Gulf that together hold an estimated 400 billion-500 billion metric tons of hydrocarbons (IOD Aug.2’11).
