Focus Remains on Libya as Nymex Crude Hits High for 2011

Crude and oil product prices made strong gains Thursday as traders continued to express concerns about Libya and currency fluctuations rattled the market. Nymex May crude futures climbed $2.45 to close at $106.72 per barrel, the highest finish of the year. In London on ICE Futures, April Brent ended at $117.36, up $2.23. Nymex May gasoline contracts settled at $3.1076 per gallon, up 4.36￠, while Nymex May heating oil rose 5.02￠ to end at $3.0898. Both gasoline and heating oil contracts expired Thursday.
