Iraq’s oil ministry said on Thursday it hadsigned a final deal with Korea Gas (Kogas) todevelop its Akkas gas field in the westernprovince of Anbar.Iraq had asked Kogas to develop the Akkasfield on its own after partner Kazmunaigas Ex-ploration Production withdrew from the deal.“Development of Akkas gas field willprovide a source of power generation andopen the way for establishing a promisingpetrochemical industry,” Ahmed al-Sham-ma, Iraq’s deputy oil minister, said duringthe signing ceremony.
